The Team Has Arrived!

Posted by: Aaron Wade   in Blog Post

Everyone who is coming is now here.  The big flight arrived with very little difficulty.  Our van/shuttle scheme seemed to work like a champ, and we quickly got everyone where they needed to go!

The boys house is now quiet (praise the Lord) and all are falling asleep.

Please pray for us in the morning, beginning about 10:30 Knoxville time.  Band and crew are leaving for the park at 7:30am local time, and the rest of the team will follow at 8:15.  We need supernatural rest and incredible stamina through an all-day event tomorrow followed by evening services at one North Valley location in the evening.

Advance Team Update

Posted by: Aaron Wade   in Blog Post

Here’s my first test blog entry from Las Vegas. The advance team (Melinda, Cheri, Nancy, Gene, Mark T., Chris, and myself) arrived at 1:40pm Pacific Time at McClaran (?) International Airport. We were a few minutes delayed, but nothing serious. We walked out at street level where we found Sandra waiting for us. She led us to the pickup deck where Lou was waiting with a 12-passenger van and a giant smile. First order of business was to find the nearest In-N-Out (burger joint) and tank up. We then proceeded to Budget truck rentals to pick up our 9 vehicles. Here we ran into our first…uh…opportunity. The Air Force base here had rented most of Budget’s 12-passenger fleet and still has them (they were supposed to be back Wednesday). Budget’s solution was to rent us twice as many minivans to make up the passenger space.  Problem is, we only have 9 drivers right now, not the 16 it would take to drive all the vans they wanted to give us. The solution is to charter a couple of 28-passenger shuttles to pick up the slack for the missing vehicles, which should be delivered to us around noon tomorrow. So hopefully that little issue is solved, so on to the next.

What have we accomplished today? We’ve scoped out tomorrow’s venue, we’ve done the first round of grocery shopping, we’ve delivered luggage to all four houses, we’ve tested out the local fare.  More later.

Sent from my Windows Mobile phone.

Extra Rehearsal - Saturday January 10

Posted by: Aaron Wade   in Podcast Episode

As previouly announced, we’ll be meeting Saturday from 10am-5pm to get some extra rehearsal time that we lost during the Christmas production.  Here are the details you need:

  • Please show up to the Choir Room like normal at 10am.  You’ll need to pick up your name tag and music just like a normal rehearsal.
  • If you have extra Reborn shirts, please make sure your name is in the tag and bring them with you.  We’ll be wearing them on Sunday, and we have more new members than we have extra shirts, so we need your help!
  • Lunch will be provided around noon.
  • After lunch will be some free time and games.  During this time we’ll conduct a Featured Vocalist meeting and the call-back audition.  NOTE: If you’re a Featurd Vocalist and will not be there Saturday after lunch time, please leave a comment here or email me so I know what to expect.
  • We’ll conclude with more rehearsal time in the afternoon and wrap up with some fun at 5pm.  Your ride can pick you up at the West Entrance then.
  • Attending this rehearsal can make up for previous absences (counting toward the attendance requirement), but absence will not count against you.  That being said, if you’re available, we need everyone there if we’re going to be productive.

Please ask any questions in the comments section below so that everyone may benefit from the answers.

Featured Vocalist Audition Results

Posted by: Aaron Wade   in Announcements

Thanks to everyone who came to audition.  We are always amazed at how much talent exists in this group!  It’s encouraging to see so many talented students who are brave enough to come and put themselves out there in that setting.  Everyone is to be highly commended.  A special thank-you and encouragement to the many middle school students who had wonderful auditions.  We’re very pleased to have more middle schoolers on the team than ever before, and we wish we could have used more of you, but seniority had to be a consideration.  Other considerations included preparation, confidence, ability to sing harmony, and tour participation.

Other special thanks go to Olivia Daniel, Jason Jennings, and David Jenkins, whose evaluations (without knowing anyone’s background) were extremely valuable and heavily relied upon.

Auditions are always a difficult and emotionally draining experience for everyone involved.  By nature of the event, not everyone can make it.  The worst thing you can do if you’re disappointed about the results is be negative and bitter toward the leadership or toward your peers that did make it this time.  The best thing you can do is be thankful for the opportunity and  learn and grow from the experience.

Not every featured vocalist will be a lead soloist, but each of you will play a crucial role in communicating the songs.  We are not making final song assignments until after the call-back (details to follow).  Please congratulate the Featured Vocalists for FUSION Awakened:

Sopranos

Feedback from Sunday

Posted by: Aaron Wade   in Announcements

Here’s a comment we just received on the church website.  I was asked to share this with you:

Just a comment for Bro. Doug: Thanks for a great message Sunday morning on worship. A couple of M’s were there from overseas where worship is very limited. She was almost overwhelmed with joy with the worship experience of the message and the great worship music at the end. Thanks again and please pass this on to all of the people responsible for the music. It was a great experience for me and I think even more so for the M’s who were present!

Solo/Ensemeble Auditions

Posted by: Aaron Wade   in Announcements

Auditions will be held individually in the Choir Room before a panel of adult judges. We will have 2 sessions, beginning at 1:30 and at 3:00. To sign up for an audition, please leave a comment on this post (using the form or link below) and let me know which session. Please meet at the specified session time in the Choir Room to receive instructions. Following this time, all students will leave the room to wait in the West Entrance welcome center area until your assigned audition time. After your individual audition, you are free to go if you choose.

Auditoners should prepare two different solos from two different songs in the Awakened rehearsal book. You will also need to know your part on all the show songs we have rehearsed so far this semester; you will be asked to sing harmony for at least one section of one song of the judges’ choosing. Your audition will be accompanied by the piano and/or an accompaniment track.

Please let me know if you have questions!

UPDATE: The 3:00 session is now full.  All further auditions need to be at the 1:30 spot.
