Featured Vocalist Audition Results

Posted by: Aaron Wade   in Announcements

Thanks to everyone who came to audition.  We are always amazed at how much talent exists in this group!  It’s encouraging to see so many talented students who are brave enough to come and put themselves out there in that setting.  Everyone is to be highly commended.  A special thank-you and encouragement to the many middle school students who had wonderful auditions.  We’re very pleased to have more middle schoolers on the team than ever before, and we wish we could have used more of you, but seniority had to be a consideration.  Other considerations included preparation, confidence, ability to sing harmony, and tour participation.

Other special thanks go to Olivia Daniel, Jason Jennings, and David Jenkins, whose evaluations (without knowing anyone’s background) were extremely valuable and heavily relied upon.

Auditions are always a difficult and emotionally draining experience for everyone involved.  By nature of the event, not everyone can make it.  The worst thing you can do if you’re disappointed about the results is be negative and bitter toward the leadership or toward your peers that did make it this time.  The best thing you can do is be thankful for the opportunity and  learn and grow from the experience.

Not every featured vocalist will be a lead soloist, but each of you will play a crucial role in communicating the songs.  We are not making final song assignments until after the call-back (details to follow).  Please congratulate the Featured Vocalists for FUSION Awakened:

Sopranos

  • Erin Simcox
  • Anika Strand
  • Mollie Tranum
  • Sarah Wade

Altos

  • Meredith Marcum

  • Tessa Watson
  • Erin Williams

Guys

  • Christian Baker

Feedback from Sunday

Posted by: Aaron Wade   in Announcements

Here’s a comment we just received on the church website.  I was asked to share this with you:

Just a comment for Bro. Doug: Thanks for a great message Sunday morning on worship. A couple of M’s were there from overseas where worship is very limited. She was almost overwhelmed with joy with the worship experience of the message and the great worship music at the end. Thanks again and please pass this on to all of the people responsible for the music. It was a great experience for me and I think even more so for the M’s who were present!

Solo/Ensemeble Auditions

Posted by: Aaron Wade   in Announcements

Auditions will be held individually in the Choir Room before a panel of adult judges. We will have 2 sessions, beginning at 1:30 and at 3:00. To sign up for an audition, please leave a comment on this post (using the form or link below) and let me know which session. Please meet at the specified session time in the Choir Room to receive instructions. Following this time, all students will leave the room to wait in the West Entrance welcome center area until your assigned audition time. After your individual audition, you are free to go if you choose.

Auditoners should prepare two different solos from two different songs in the Awakened rehearsal book. You will also need to know your part on all the show songs we have rehearsed so far this semester; you will be asked to sing harmony for at least one section of one song of the judges’ choosing. Your audition will be accompanied by the piano and/or an accompaniment track.

Please let me know if you have questions!

UPDATE: The 3:00 session is now full.  All further auditions need to be at the 1:30 spot.

Monday Update

Posted by: Aaron Wade   in Announcements, Blog Post

Thanks so much for all of you who got in your paperwork and deposits last night for our Spring Trip.  We had a tremendous response!  Our leadership teams are currently working through all the applications and will determine the final trip team list as soon as we can.

Also, big thanks for everyone for all the extra effort at last night’s rehearsal with the big choir and orchestra and the children’s choir.  I know logistics were crazy, but you guys did a great job, and I appreciate your attention and faithfulness.

I need to give you a couple of updates:

  1. We will NOT be singing in big church this Sunday.  We had considered it, but eventually decided the timing was not right.
  2. We WILL be singing Sunday morning December 7th.  That’s the Sunday at the end of our production run.  Call time will be determined later, and we’ll be in production costume attire.
  3. We talked about this in rehearsal last week, but just to reiterate: PLEASE don’t wait to get your production attire together.  Everyone’s wearing all black, long sleeves, floor/ankle length, black socks/hosiery, black shoes.  Guys’ shirts need to be button-down.  We’ll be providing pearls for girls and ties for guys.
  4. Solo/featured vocalist/ensemble auditions will be held Sunday, December 14 before our normal rehearsal.  Signups will be here on the site starting next week, but if you’re interested you may want to mark the date.

Revelation Song on Sunday Morning, November 16

Posted by: Aaron Wade   in Announcements

Call time will be 8am in the Worship Center.  We will need to be very flexible, as there is a lot going on that morning.

Dress is modest Sunday morning attire.  We’re going to look NICE.  This means:

  • Girls: long skirt or pants; NOTHING above the knees; no open backs; no spaghetti straps
  • Guys: wear a shirt with a collar and good pants; no jeans; no flipflops

We will explain the logistics Sunday morning when you get there, but know that you will be able to attend service and Sunday School like normal.

Spring Trip Student/Parent Meeting - November 2

Posted by: Aaron Wade   in Announcements

Hopefully you’ve heard by now we’re going back to Las Vegas, NV for our Spring Break mission opportunity this year!  This is a very exciting time, but we have to move quickly to get everything in place by March.  There is a mandatory student/parent meeting this Sunday, November 2 in the Choir Room from 3:30-4:30.  Presenting the information and leading the meeting will be LuAnne Wade (trip leader), Debbie Stephens (FBC Missions Mobilization Assistant), and Aaron Wade (director).  Students and parents will receive relevant information concerning the trip and have the opportunity to ask questions and begin signups and paperwork.

If you have any interest in serving with FUSION this spring, please make plans to attend Sunday’s meeting.  There’s no obligation, and it’s the best way to find out what this trip is all about.  Please let us know if you have any questions!  We look forward to seeing you all Sunday!

Set Has Been Decided!

Posted by: Aaron Wade   in Announcements, Blog Post

We finally did it. I gathered my closest consultants and we locked ourselves into a room until we had totally determined the songs and song order for this year’s rock show. Listening CDs are being produced as we speak, and you can get them at rehearsal on Sunday.

What to expect? You’ll obviously see the stuff we’ve been working on (You’re On Fire, Fully Alive, etc), as well as stuff we’d already decided but not started on yet (Whispers, etc). You’ll also see some brand new stuff that we haven’t talked about yet, and we’re pulling out some old stuff from years past. There’s going to be some great surprises that you’re all going to love.

Please come on time Sunday and ready to work. We should have our third Christmas song ready to rehearse, and we’ll listen and talk through the new set!
